UCAA Receives First Airport Shuttle Bus from Kiira Motors
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) officially received its first airport shuttle bus from Kiira Motors Corporation on June 20, 2025 at Kololo Independence Grounds.
Speaking at the event, the Director General of UCAA noted that the delivery of this first bus was a testament to the progress Uganda is making in promoting local innovation and industrialization. He highlighted that the partnership between UCAA and Kiira Motors aligns with the national agenda of supporting homegrown solutions, while also enhancing the passenger experience at Entebbe International Airport.
“We are proud to be part of this important milestone. The arrival of this bus represents more than just a vehicle—it is a symbol of national pride, sustainability, and our commitment to improving airport ground services,”Mr. Bamwesigye remarked.
He commended Kiira Motors for its role in championing the development of Uganda’s automotive industry and emphasized Uganda CAA’s readiness to incorporate more electric and low-emission vehicles into its operations to meet both service delivery and environmental goals.
This shift from diesel-powered vehicles to locally manufactured electric buses reflects Uganda CAA’s strong alignment with Uganda’s national goals, including the Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Target by 2050, the Buy Uganda, Build Uganda (BUBU) policy, and the broader Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) agenda that aims to drive the country’s economic transformation by 2040. The Kayoola EVS eliminates diesel dependency, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and advances the Authority’s adoption of smart, forward-thinking technology.
The Kiira shuttle bus is expected to facilitate movement of staff to and from Entebbe.
